Ever lost your knitting mojo? Get stuck on a craft project because you feel like you’re not sure why you started it in the first place? Maybe you’ve always wanted to add journaling to your creative practice as a way to further explore your love of writing.

In this 2-hour class, we will unplug from technology for a few hours and enjoy one of the rare pleasures in busy modern life: a blank page, a pen, and the nurturing of your creative self. Everyone has the capacity for creativity whether you’re a busy parent, a scientist, or already working in a creative field. You may not think creativity plays much into your practices as a knitter, but it does! And we’ll investigate how.

Kemper, a lifelong writer and maker, will share how they incorporate journaling, personal essay, and other writing techniques into a daily practice to unlock and unblock creativity. This class will be part lecture and part workshop. We will discuss the things that get in the way of creative flow and how we can help heal our minds through the intersection of writing and craft.

Requirements and Suggestions:

Please bring your own notebook or journal (it can be blank or one you already use regularly) and writing implements of your choice. Feel free to bring your knitting/crochet project, water bottle, or whatever else you need to feel comfortable in the setting. We will all be unplugging during the class and keeping phones, watches, and other electronic devices in our bags.
